DIY Natural Soap: Soap-Making 101

If you have ever wanted to learn how to make natural soap from scratch, join us for this introductory lesson that will cover everything you need to get started in cold process soap-making!

We’ll chat about required equipment, different types of oils, safety precautions and colorants. Together, we’ll make one loaf of all-natural soap (fragrance TBD by the group!), and everyone will get a bar. Please note that because the soap will need to cure for a spell after we make it, we’ll make arrangements to get the soap to you either in person or by mail 2-3 weeks after the class ends. But you won’t leave empty-handed on the day of the class, either! Besides the newly-learned skill you will take home, we’ll also send you on your way with a handout covering everything we discussed and the opportunity to purchase a kit to make your own loaf at home!

Class attendance is $20 (includes the bar of soap). We’ll provide goggles and gloves to all participants, and participation fee covers the cost of all products used for soap-making during class.

Soap-making kits to take home are available for $20. This is a great way to try to make your own loaf with minimal investment. Kits include the appropriate amounts of coconut oil, palm oil and lye for you to make one batch of homemade soap per the recipe we follow in class (note: you will need to provide olive oil, distilled water, and any fragrance, if desired). We might just throw in a surprise gift for fun, too!

Molds are available for purchase for $20, please pre-order and we will send it home with you, as well!

If you would like a kit, mold, or both, purchase ahead of time (through Eventbrite) so we can have the supplies ready and waiting for you at the class.
