May 1, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$15Are you interested in how wine is made, want to make it at home, or get into the industry?
Whether you are just a wino or looking to become an expert, you will leave this class with a solid understanding of how to make your own wine or do a harvest at a local winery.
Class cost: $15 (includes tastings)
The Garage welcomes Jamison Smith, a former UC Berkeley graduate in the agricultural sciences, vineyard researcher, and laboratory manager of Clarksburg Wine Company’s Custom Crush Facility in California.
This class will be divided up into two sections, with a tasting session halfway through the lesson.
Section one:
– Where are grapes sourced?
– How they are processed?
– How are they fermented?
Section two:
The art of blending, storage, filtration and bottling.
Everyone will leave with a wine making calculations sheet for your convenience.
After spending his time in many California vineyards and having worked with over 250 wines between 20 varietals, he would like to share some of his experience with you. His next stop is harvest in the Willamette Valley, but we’re fortunate to have him talk this evening.
